"Of Spiders and Serpents!" Part 1 of 2. Guest-starring Spider-Man and Devil-Slayer. It's an unusual tale as the web-slinger becomes involved in the Serpent-Men's secret plot to takeover the world! The Serpent Cult needs to possess seven special warriors in order to conquer Earth.
And six have already been captured: Doctor Strange, Clea, Gargoyle, Sub-Mariner, Valkyrie, and the Hulk! The last free member of the Defenders, Devil-Slayer, warns the wall-crawler that he is the Serpent Cult's seventh and final target! But something about the Devil-Slayer's story doesn't quite add up. Will Spider-Man figure out what's going on before it's too late? Flashback cameo by King Kull.
